Default Intake and Exhaust options

Hi all, I have a 2006 Monte LTZ. I'm interested in throwing a CAI and catback exhaust on in the spring. I'm looking for options and opinions.

A while back in the new member area monte carlo 3831 pointed to this site for CAI.....Cold Air Inductions Inc. - Cold Air Intake Systems - High Performance Cold Air Intakes & Filters. I'm interested, but was wondering what else I would need for installation. The link below is the actual intake itself. 2005 - 2009 3.9L Monte Carlo Intake System (Black Powder Coat) - Chevrolet - Cold Air Intakes - Store

What im wondering though is this a direct airbox replacement? Do I need to replace/remount the sensor located on the tube going to the airbox?

As far as the exhaust goes, I'm looking for different manufacturers and opinions on sounds. I want a nice mellow rumble, nothing too crazy. I also would like to know if common muffle shops (like Midas) would be able to do this. It seems as if I cant find anyplace to perform the work, and I don't think I could do this myself.

Thanks for the help in advance!!

It's a direct replacement for your airbox! I purchased my mufflers and tips from e-bay via summit racing, I could give you the exact part #'s if your're interested? Mine sounds pretty good with the CAI together. I ddin't do anything with the cat or resonator, my guy who did the install said I would be "stupid" to replace a completely good cat and resonator, so I left that alone...........

Thats sweet. The CAI will take 10 min for install!!

I love to get the part numbers off of you for the exhaust. Did you buy the parts and take it to a shop? That's the problem I'm having is finding someone to install the exhaust. In your sig I see that you have magnaflow duals with 4". Is that on the Monte? do the 4' tips fit nicely with our buumpers? Thanks for answering all my questions!!

4" tips are the perfect size on these cars.

Got another quick question. Any forum members out there with flowmaster super 44's? How do you like them? Was the install a pain or did you take it somewhere to get done? Thanks again for the help and advice.

Thanks chibi for the heads up on the tips!! will go with the 4".

I still owe you those part #'s, sorry I forgot.......

MagnaFlow Performance Stainless Steel Exhaust Tip 2.25" Inlet Weld-On 4" Outlet

MagnaFlow 14362 Muffler 2.25" Inlet/2.25" Outlet Stainless Steel Polished Each

I got everything from ebay through summit racing, looks like the the price has gone up a tiny bit though...... everything fit and works perfectly and looks great. Also total bill to install 2 mufflers and tips $130.00 at my local Meineke! Ebay total was $335.05 including shipping and install was $130.00, total into exhaust was $465.05! Maybe kinda steep, but that's what I wanted.......

and the CAI powder coated........

next up you're gonna need wheels, tires and depo headlights.......

Very nice!! I like the look of the tips too!! I also want to go with the black powder coated CAI, since my car is silver it will stand out nicely IMO. By chance could you point me to any good sound clips for the exhaust. Right now I cant decide between the MagnaFlow or the Flowmaster 44's. I know nothing beats real life, but I cant seem to find any quality clips for MagnaFlow. Thanks for all the help

By the way I noticed the Earnhardt plate in the one pick. Which one is that I didnt see that availible the last time I had to redo my registation, is it still availible? Thanks again!
