Default intake on a california car

So, my 07 monte carlo is still running well, but I have a problem. I discovered that it is a california car, and I want to put an intake on it. But of course, it has emissions equipment attached to my air filter. Can I just take the emissions equipment off and put the intake on or do I need to do some fancy crap?

And can you guys give me a link to an intake that I can put on my car? I can't find something for the 3.5...

Also if you can find turbos I can't put on I would appreciate links to those too

I recommend the Cold Air Inductions CAI. Its a good quality intake, and installs easily. I had no problems installing it.

I have NOT had to smog my car yet because its still to new. You won't need to smog for the first 5 years of ownership on a brand new car.

I don't think the CAI should be a big deal as far as smog goes. I've had them on other cars, and they passed both the visual, and the smog check itself. But if it is a problem, I can always remove it, put my stock air box on, and then put it right back to the CAI when i get home. After you do the initial installation, the second time is really easy. I've taken mine out, and put the stock box back just to go to the dealer for warranty work. The swapping out now takes me like 30-45min.

Most intakes comes with a california / emissions safe sticker that you put on the car near the filter, so to the eye you can see that it's approved.

I know my K&N has a nice sticker on it

Yea the Cold Air Inductions one does not come with any stickers about being emissions legal. So who knows if it is or not.

I know the K&N induction for the 06-07 Monte SS is NOT legal in California.

I also know exactly what sticker your talking about, the truck has it!

I passed California smog with flying colors. Actually the tech said my car ran very clean. I dont think you should have a problem.

its all about the shop really, my guys told me i had a great looking engine bay, checked for a cat, and ran the test. unfortuantely i failed the actual test. visual i passed. where at in cali are you located? maybe i could help ya out if your close. got a good shop. my K & N came with a sticker too, but i've seen some pretty choppy homeade intakes that still pass in cali without stickers. if you got a smog coming up, just wait. that way you only have to find a good shop every other year after!
