Default Help with exaust/cai.

So I just got my 05 ss, its bone stock, I want to put a cai in it. Im thinking the wizaired is the one imma go for. Is it good for the 05? zzp says only til 04. Also, I want to get rid of the ubend. Is zzps downpipe good? I cant spend the cash on full exaust kits, just looking to get a little out of it.

Wizaired is a really good CAI, if money isn't an issue I would go with Cold Air Inductions. I have that CAI and I absolutely love it.

I also have a ZZP downpipe with the high flow cat, took it to a shop and had my res deleted and DP put on and it gives it a really nice sound and a little more oompf without spending thousands on a full exhaust.

how about a homemade cai instead of wizaired? Having the opening of the filter sitting in the fender, by the fog light assembly kinda. Is it worth it to shell out the extra money to grab the wizaired?

Also, what exactly would I need to make a home made cai?

Ok so say I buy the wizaired, on zzp, what options do I chose for my 05 ss sc? Standard, kn filter, but what about that bottle thing? Do I need that for the cai system? What does it do? And where does it go?

Also the zzp downpipe on this page
http://shop.zzperformance.com/store/...Downpipes.aspx

Im guessing thats the one I need. But with what options? I live in NY so I need a cat, so, thats a nessiscaty. But what else? also what diameter? 2.5 vs 3 in?

Im sorry, I dont know much about this subject =/

And what does deleating the resanator do? And adding glasspacks? Oh and whats the differences between cold air inductions and wizaired

Much of the difference comes down to build quality, materials quality, engineering, and proven and trusted performance. Check out our website and you can learn a lot. We design and engineer our own air filters that have been made specifically for your vehicle as opposed to just buying a generic filter from a manufacturer, we make our products 100% in the USA and offer a lifetime warranty, and we try and offer exceptional customer service, which is why I am here on the forum helping you! If you have any questions at all feel free to contact me, I would be happy to assist you!

I would recommend shelling out the extra money for the CAI. Making one yourself can be costly and not knowing how or what you're doing doesn't help.

With the downpipe, since your car is a SC you should go with the 2.5 inch with the Cat. I have the high flow cat on mine, but I don't have emissions in Michigan, so I'm not sure how that works in NY.

Intake choice ultimately comes down to how much you want to spend. If you're comfortable spending $250+ for an insulated box and filter, go for it. If you're on a budget and comfortable making your own, do that.

AEM dryflow filters are pretty cheap: Aem 9"x4" Conical Dryflow Air Filter Element 21 2059DK | eBay

Just add your own tubing (I'd go 3.5-4") and find a location to attach your IAT sensor. You could make a decent FWI for less than $50.

Regardless, your stock intake with a new filter isn't all that bad.

What kind of HP will be added between these two mods? I know on a S/C car it should respond to these mods better than a N/A 3.8 would. Say 10HP for the CAI and maybe 5-10HP for the downpipe for a grand total of 20HP?

^^ doubt it, maybe 10hp between both. You will more than likely feel no difference at all its mainly for the sound. Now if you tuned with them there is possibly a gain you may feel very little if at all.
