Right Wiz, headers are designed to tune or time the exhaust pulses to prevent backpressure and give you horsepower on the high end of your rpm's.

Most modern OEM exhaust manifolds/headers are designed to give your torque across the spectrum along with the rest of the engine design.

If you want WOT power for trap speed or making 2000 left hand turns, then you need headers.

So ifyou have a ton of mods to move your torque curve to thehigh end of the spectrum, then header are a plus.

None. You won't want headers on that engine because of the torque loss. If your looking for power drop your money on an entry level turbo kit from ZZPerformance.com or Cartuning.com

wow, took me long enough to find this post.

Why wouldn't he want aftermarket headers on his car? But then for the 3.8 supercharged it is sooo recommended? I dont think I understand...

I have read alot of forum posts where these Supercharger guys rave about them on their 3.8, but then the 3.8 n/a doesnt want to get them on their engines...

The reason is for the loss of lowend torque. The power simply doesn't get applied to the wheels. Once you hit the 300-350 power range you start looking at them. This amount can't be done on a nonblown engine or maybe I should say it would be much less expensive to get the engine blown first as the HP will quickly rise to that arena.

They've also tested the power and there really isn't much a differance with the Cartuning turbo... it seems to be better to get PEMS for their turbo and that is what I would recommend in this case.
