speaking about intakes, a bunch of guys in the club I just became a part of, have custom made Thrasher style intakes. After seeing so many of them undertake this project, I have been inspired to do the same. On theirs, the whole heat shield is lexan though, mine will only have a lexan top with the other sides being something that will be something more heat resistant

I'm sorry to reply late like this but I just joined in, I bought my fenderwell intake at PFYC.COM by Competition Products with a 9" k&n cone 3.5" flange , the engine sounds like it has a huge vacuum leak but it sounds great at WOT. I think it is the best set up possible compared to the Thrasher system, with the little front bumper vent , the cone filter is grabbing the air almost head on.

Please dont tell me you are running the filter right off the mass air flow sensor Pat03ss!
running the filter this way will hurt your performace do to increased heat. yhou must isolate the filter from heat and get a good supply of cold air. i have a detailed writeup on how to pull of a good cold air intake. the writeup is on my WWW.

at ClubGP, they had someone make a custom 4" FWI with a 7" cone that is insane! total cost of making one was like 50 dollars using ABS pipe
