Whati worte that heis saying when i read this is in RED&Blue

"Thanks for your inquiry for some performance exhaust work on your Intimidator. Replacing a resonator with pipe is simple.I should think so it is a Peace of straight pipe. However, it would be best to keep it the same diameter of the rest of the exhaust system to insure scavenging. If you have a 3.8 with dual mufflers, and they haven't done anything special with the exhaust, then you probablyhave 2 1/4" pipe.
(Remember this for later!!)

I need to research the specs on you current converter. Usually when they introduce a performance vehicle likean Intimidator, they alreadyequipped your ride withhi-flow converters. In fact, most cat manufacturers are manufacturing their entire line as hi-flow cats. The two largest manufacturers of catalytic converters is Catco and Car Sound (magnaflow). They both manufacture all of their cats to hi-flow specs. also well knows in walker .

What I'm saying here is that:

1. Replacing your converter may not give you any more performance because after the converter you have a single exhaust that splits into two mufflers with 1 7/8" inlets. So now they are not 21/4? what happen to the rest of the pipe? why would they shrink the pipe down this car and then bring it back up at the end of the muffler? What happened to the double walled down pipe that is so restrictive on ALL MODELS OF THE MONTE'S? This is the whole reason to do all of this in the first place is to make it flow better. Allot of backpressuer is generated in those pipes and mufflers.

2. The replacement converter maynot exceed the performance specifications that you currently have. This may be the case, but unless s/he or you can check flow i would replace it to be sure it flows better
3. Federal guidelines regulate the replacement of converters. Replacing a converter that is not malfunctioning is considered tampering. Why would it be tampering if you are replacing a cat with a CAT? as long as you do not completely remove it you are with in Reg's on this one from everything i have ever seen or heard. and your not deleting it your putting a better product in it's place.

You may get better performance by upgrading your mufflers,This is trueand eliminating your resonator,What about the restrictive down pipe? we still haven't gotten rid of that choke point. Witch again is the whole reason for you goign in to that shop. than you will by tampering with your converter.Your not tampering with it your replacing it with anew one. heck even if you leave the old one in there replacing the down pipe is still the reason your there. so replace the down pipe and leave the CAT. in place. the point isthat you want to do it all at once to make sure the parts do not have to be replaced again in a years time due to aCat from the factory that has proved to plug up on our cars and also caused cars to not run at all due to this issue. So if replacing it with different brand or high flow that twill prevent this from happening why would this be against fed. regs? The best thing to do is schedule a meeting with one of our performance exhaust specialists to determine your specific needs. So what your saying is you dont know what yourtalking about here at all and you want someone who might know, to help bail you out of this load of B.S. your feeding me now.Are you looking

LMAO Mickey! Funniest thing I read all week. I agree on all of your points. He obviously is not familiar with montes. I thought a few here would get a kick out of that response.

Hopefully the next shop will give me a more favorable response and actually quote me a price...

the cat on the car is not a high flow one, the guy doesn't know what he's talking about...did you go to a big chain exhaust shop?? or just a little guy in town?? take it to the little guy and they usually know the most...but putting the high flow cat on the car was a huge gain in response when you hit the gas...obvouisly that guy didn't know what he was talking about...
but putting a glass pack on where the resonator is isn't going to do anything for performance...it will make the car about as noisy as not having one..and you wont gain any horse power from it from what i understood of a glass pack because its just a resonator with different baffles in it....

go no resonator

Alright well I think im just gonna get the 2.5" bolt-in with cat downpipe and the wizaired CAI from zzp. I looked into a FWI but it just looks like such a hassle having to take off the fender and all.
I mentioned it to my wife (mistake #1) and she didnt like the idea of the car being loud (lol) so ill see how loud the downpipe and CAI make my car before having the resonator removed.

Thanks!
