I also agree- when my monte used to have the 3100, I went from a 4" rolled tip to a 2.25" streetglow tip (OD of the tips were the same- but it was one of those ones that looked like a pencil sharpener with all the holes, and had the LEDs inside; so thats why the exhaust pipe size was so small)- then eventually back to another 4" rolled edge tip- and the sound difference was pretty drastic. I'd definitely say the bigger opening made it a bit louder, and the noise was a bit different too- but its hard to explain.

 

well it sounds like some of the answers are conflicting but , i know that if you buy tips with the double walled resonators, (like the ones rrom magnaflow) their supposed to increase your exhausts sound , problem is their about twice as much a single tip. As for the other claims here, it sounds like its different for every car, and or setup you have.

 

Mhm, maybe I can go to a muffler shop and clamp some on to see how it would differ...
