I pretty much agree with Riggs. Only two things help 3800s sound better:
-Performance camshaft
-Higher compression (L36 sounds better than L67)
Cammed L36 based builds sound pretty good with loud exhaust. The rest of us are stuck with raspy, wheezy sounds.

Ive had both flowmasters and SLP. both of which are pretty nice... SLP is a lot nicer IMO but I never had it on my 3400. I put it on my 4.6 dohc on the stang... is going to sound a LOT different.
Honestly, flowmasters on my 3400 were great, but ive heard by a lot of people they dont sound as well on a 3800. Do a few youtube clips and go from there. just know, you can get a deeper tone (to an extent) by doing things like headers and adding a CAI.
