Thanks for the compliment as well as choosing CAI Inc.! As for the 1?4 turn not fastening, 9 times out of 10 it is a matter of the clip getting bent so that the 1/4 no longer grabs properly. This can happen for a variety of reason, but basically if you straighten out the clip with a pair of pliers and screw driver you should be good to go. If not shoot me an email and we'll get you taken care of.

For some reason customer service seems to be an afterthought with a lot of companies these days rather than a forethought. It was refreshing to deal with a company like CAI that knows the true meaning of customer service.
Thanks, I really appreciate that. Nothing makes me happier than a happy customer!

Unfortunately all the testing we do (thermal imaging, flo-bench, water intrusion, dyno pulls, fitment, etc.) was done years ago before we came to market with the product. We never release a CAI without going through all the testing and making sure we are putting out the best product possible. But if we lose all the data I'll get in touch HAHA!

Welcome Bill, it's always good to see this forum continue to grow. I do have a complaint/suggestion though. Your CAI will NOT fit a 1998 or 1999 Monte Carlo. If you or the company could change it to say 2000-2005 that would help out a lot of new people who want to modify their Monte's for the first time.

Also, do you have any videos of the CAI improving a stock 3800 (na or sc) by 10whp? That seems a little extreme, but anything's possible.

Funny you should mention the video thing, I have a conference call with a video production team in 30 minutes for this kind of thing. Soon we are going to be adding product feature video as well as dyno pull videos and testing to a new and improved Youtube Channel as well as our website. Quite honestly, its going to take awhile to get all these videos done, and we will most likely do our newer systems first based simply off demand and popularity, but they are coming. Great suggestion!

As for the vehicle year error you referred to, is that for the 3.8L engine you are talking about? As soon as I get a response I will look into it deeper. I know for that product it could have easily got mis-categorized on our website because there are 3 different engine sizes with 3 different engines on both the Monte Carlo and Impala, so I can see where a data entry may have been wrong. Let me know and I will get on it! Thanks for bringing it to our attention!

The 98 and 99 Monte Carlo Z34 did come with the 3800 engine, however the battery/washer fluid reservoir is where your CAI would sit, so it would not work on that engine.

Probably no other way around this than battery relocation I would assume, I'm sure most if not all cai's would then have the same problem. Certainly be doable if you really wanted a CAI though.

Anything is doable, but Bill wanted to know why his CAI wouldn't work so I told him

I've seen quite a few grand ams with intakes right where the stock box was, something could be made there and it would be a HUGE hit with the 5th gen guys..

it's a small fit but it could easily be made by someone with the correct tools and resources
