Default can you reuse gaskets?

well, there is only one gasket im needing to reuse and its the one right after the downpipe. Im taking off the whole exhasut today and gonna clean it up real nice, and give it a good painting. So, im just wondering if I can reuse the gasket? Is there any reason why i couldnt? It looks like its still new. And I dont know if it matters but, its like one of those paper/cardboard with a metal ring on the inside.

Whenever it comes down to needing to reuse a gasket or not, I honestly always just replace unless it's a metal gasket (like for the exhaust manifolds)

I would think you could reuse the downpipe gasket, I think I opted for that instead of using the gasket that came with my GMPP exhaust. Just when you bolt it back up, make sure you check for a leak in that area or not.

your thinking of chevy gasket in a tube and mazda bond and honda bond it is a thick strong gasket used for the engine not exaughxt parts. you can get away with using the gaskets from the exaughst parts if they werent badly damaged when you took every thing apart. just go up and down it with a wet hand and see if you feel air coming from the joints what i mean is have your hand below the piping and if you feel some air pushing down to your hand you have a leak if you dont you dont have a leak.

you should hear an exhaust leak. i agree reuse the gasket. i dont think it wise to go feeling around on your down pipe with your car running i think your asking for some burns.
