i wonder if it would be necessary to wrap the intake piping from the TB to whatever CAI box you have? wether it is with exhaust wrap or a BIG chunk of coolant hose (i found a piece of 4" at work), i think it would keep intake temps down a little more. it probably wouldn't look the greatest, but i think it would help.

my next idea would be wrapping the crossover pipe with exhaust wrap. some might already do this. i'm going to try it in the next few weeks. i can get the stuff for little or nothing, so it would be a fairly mod to keep underhood temps down.

Well it might get hot, but within the time that the air is going from the filter box to the TB it wont have much time to heat up. If anything get some insulation for the MAF so it doesnt get bad.

From what I can remember (and that ain't much sometimes!) ZZP's Tim told me that a cross-over heat shield was basically only for looks. No performance value. For performance they recommended the ceramic coated crossovers, which reduced underhood heat by something like 15 degrees. That eqauls HP. They had none in stock that last time I was there, nor the ceramic coated rear manifolds. S&S headers are probably the best way to go in the exhaust department anyways, right now.

Even better coolant could do alot better than an insulated pipe.

if i get a chance this weekend, i'm going to wrap my crossover pipe. i happen to have some exhaust wrap laying around so it's only going to cost me my own time. i'll let you all know how it went and i'll take pics if i remember.

Mpd Inc Makes a great nice looking cold air intake and whats nice is the lid can be removed and its heat insulated on the inside of the box and it can have ram air added to same intake.

No, and they aren't the best anyway.
