Air intake questions,help?
Ok you guys don't be mad at me but I'm probably going to ask some questions that have been asked and answered like a million times here, but forgive me.I'm a noob with cars and this is my first car.
I currently have a HAI, I know it's bad, but that's why I'm here to ask questions. I was just wondering on what to use to make an airbox?where can I get the material from?what would be the easiest way to go about making an airBOX, not a wall.lol does anyone have any specs, instructions, and experiences with this that they don't mind sharing with me?
Also, is an FWI more effective than a CAI? I know gains are minimal on N/A cars but which one gives more low end torque,if any?

A FWI isn't more beneficial than a proper CAI, they are just easier to make because you don't need to build a box.
To build a box, do some research on materials that reflect heat, use cardboard for a template, then make a box from that.

Heres a pic. of one I made ....
ok so if the CAI is done properly, it should be atleast somewhat more efficient right?or are they basically the same, just different cosmetically?
@zjerry, where can i find scraps of aluminum like that?and the coupling with the extension can only be found at autozone?i went to home depot once looking for something similar to that but no luck. While i was there i was also looking at aluminum sheets, but i think i need to add an extension to the tube first. and what did you use to cut the tube shape for the aluminum box?do you have it insulated?if so how did you insulate it?

Ive been thinking about building a box from this. maybe you could try this.http://www.homedepot.com/Building-Ma...atalogId=10053
that doesnt seem like a bad idea, considering that thats insulation wrap. Itll skip the whole step of insulating any box i make.it probably wont be the best looking one but should get the job done right?
so i plan to get the extension and the make a box out of this material and mount it where the original air box used to go.time to start taking down measurements i guess!thanks to all you guys that sent me in the right direction with this!
