You can always link pictures through photo bucket...

You have to make a minimum of 10 posts before you will be allowed to post pictures directly...

A cone without a box is just sucking hot air within the motor compartment.
which totally defeats the purpose of having a cold aire intake setup.

Your better off in the meantime replacing the original filter box..until you can complete a true cold aire intake system with it boxed in... IMO.

I have a drop in spectre filter and the thing works amazing for 20 bucks even get the sound on throttle but the stock air box on my car is really a good cold air intake there's no reason to screw with it on a fifth gen

When someone decides to gut the air box, the goal is to have a larger opening that exposes more of the panel filter so the engine can have less air restrictions.

If you want a cone filter, you're best doing what Jerry did of fabbing a Fender Well Intake (FWI) or buy/build a Cold Air Intake.

I have actually seen dyno results posted that showed the "hot air intake" actually made more hp than one of the good fwi(which are supposedly better than most cold air intakes

On a boosted engine a HAI isn't as negative, because the supercharger will heat up the air anyway.

However, I have seen real life dynos where the HAI negatively affected the dyno power. I've seen tons of dynos and sheets where everything out of stock actually lost power.

The only times the HAIs really show a rise in power, is when they pop the hood and put a fan in front on the dyno. That's artificial since no one drives with their hood open
