Default Ahh.... loud exhaust = hole in resonator... advice please

So I was looking to doing my exhaust with glass packs because I heard there was a hole in my exhaust somewhere and i figured since I was under it might as well... Turns out the hole is in my wicked rusted out resonator.. SOO new problem. Keepign in mind I wanted to make the exhaust louder....

So now Im just gonna get rid of the resonator and leave my stock muffler and aftermarket tips cuz theyre all welded on and I'm low on cash and can't weld. The resonator is like 32in when i measured it and its flanged after the cat and u-bend (and the bolts are rusted to hell..) and welded to the y-pipe connecting the mufflers.

This is what I was thinking:

(need to find a 2.5" though)

http://www.jegs.com/p/JEGS/JEGS-Exha...51060/10002/-1
(Id just clamp it to the muffle end since its not flanged like the other end of the resonator)

Is this a good plan of action? Any other ideas? Should I put a glass pack in place of the resonator? I have about 100-150 Im willing to spend, maybe a tad more if I can be convinced the sound will be worth it. TIA guys!

This a better plan of action?

with the options 2.5 bolt in with cat. Then just run the pipe back to the mufflers.

***edit: Nevermind on this option, turns out to be about 200 bucks with the options I need.

to tell ya the truth, a good muffler shop will do a resinator delete for like 30 to 50 bucks. Mine when I did my exhaust charged me $15 for the labor and like 20 for the part.

A local shop, on the ...huh....east side of town, did my mine for $50 and I couldn't be happier.

wasn't holding out much hope from the get go, but since I work near a midas i figured Id ask... they wanted $150 to do it and the guy at the counter had never heard of a resonator, i had to explain what it was. All the other shops around where I work didn't know either. Most didnt even want to try it, and nearly all asked why I would want to get rid of it...

Guess Ill go back home to the mom and pop muffler shops

does deleting the resignator drop the mpg at all or will it be the same as leaving the resignator with the hole in it on?

To my knowledge, removing the res has had no affect on my MPG, but the car felt a little peppier. Worth while to remove IMO.

I had a hot rod performance exhaust shop do mine for $60. Big chain stores hire mostly idiots who can follow a manual. Mine was done in under an hour as well. Look for a promax or other performance exhaust shop, or mom and pop muffler shop. Any of them should give you a fair price.
