Cool 3800 SS Glasspack

Hey gals and guys, i recently had to replace my stock resonator due to it rusting through and blowing a hole around the welds. in it's place, i put a Summit Racing glasspack, and before the installation was complete, i had them start it up so i could see what it sounded like with just the glasspack. it sounded absolutely evil . deep, mellow idle (a tiny hint of v8 could be heard too), and when it was revved, there was no rasp whatsoever and a very light pop when letting off the gas. and btw, it was VERY loud too.

in the spring, im going to have the glasspack removed and put in the back as a muffler, along with another glasspack, thus getting rid of the stock mufflers completely. and no resonator at all. im curious as to why nearly every post/reply that mentions glasspacks has everyone in a frenzy, saying to NEVER go the route of glasspacks b/c it will have a terrible rasp, drone etc. either my Monte has some kind of mod that is unknown to me, or glasspacks really arent bad at all (in fact, they are really good. better than flowmasters, in my opinion). comments? opinions? it's been bothering me for a while now. Thanks!!

Beauty is in the eye, or ear in this case, of the beholder. If you like the sound, don't worry about what others think. And you can always do what many others have done: make further adjustments down the road to fine-tune the sound to your liking.

I agree with Sparky. There are a number of people who think that my Monte is WAY to loud and raspy, but I don't care. I'm okay with it, and if you like the way your Monte sounds, then do what you want to it.

i agree with the two posts if you like it and most dont it is preferences of the one who ownes there vehicle. with mine i couldent stand it to be to quiet and wanted to make sure i heared it running. seeing the rpms mean nothing because it is also electronically controlled. hearing it run is a perk also if you have a miss in it you will hear it in the exaughst note before you get a check engine light.

Hope you got a stainless glasspack or you'll end up back in the same spot. I went through 2 glasspacks on my monte back when it had the 3100 and was doing daily driving duties.
