05 best sounding/performance exhaust
#12
I do think I will stick with my eventual plan of doing a full SLP exhaust, headers and exhaust. It wasn't a vendor that spoke of poor fitting of the headers but it was a review by one of the buyers, I believe...
But being SLP is well known for great performance products on Camaros and other Chevrolets and is often spoken of very highly I'm going to stick with my original plan. It may take some time however to save up the funds, as they do tend to be just a taaaaaaaaaaad overpriced. I'll still keep my eye on this forum and it's members to see what they all run.
Thanks forum!

i know we have different engines, but i like the way my slp's sound.
they look sweet too. i finally see what ppl were talking about when they say, you still have to clean stainless, to keep it shiney.
actually the slp system is the second cheapest cat back out there, dont know about the headers. the borla and corsa's are twice as much.

Just to add as I have not seen it mentioned, Borla exhaust is probably the most priciest and probably the quitest at idle (when I first put it on, I wasn't sure if I put the stock exhaust back on lol) But at WOT it has a pretty good sound to it...probably not what most want, but ok if your going for a more sleeper approach...
Same can pretty much said with Borla's on my GTO...

I have an 05 lt, and should you decide to eliminate the cat, you can modify the 2000-2003 o2 emulators to fit, this will kill the check engine light. All you need to do is cut out the plastic bit that prevents you from plugging the emulator in. I did this on mine. sounds ok, but the 3.8 in general sounds like a chainsaw.

I've looked ALOT into exhaust notes and I've finally decided on the SLP Powerflo system from lmperformance.com. It's has a pretty good volume over all, but it's not too obnoxious. Also, it's made of stainless steel, has the 2.5" diameter I was looking for, is pretty cheap compared to other cat backs ($580), and looks really nice! The only thing I don't like about it is the raspyness at higher rpms, but when are you not going to get that?
The flowmaster mufflers sound pretty good at idle, but get really raspy, really fast. If you don't mind the rasp, or know of a way to eliminate it, it's a good option because of their price.
The Borla cat back sounds f**kin' fantastic! Buuut... it's over $800. Some say it's worth it, I say no.
Like other people are saying.. search around youtube for a couple hours. You'd be surprised at what you'll find.
Good luck!
