Default A/C noises

I have an 06 LS and about a month ago my air condition starts making this loud tapping noise.I spoke one person and they told me it was an actuator. The noise usually starts when I hit the button to close the vent that let's the outside air in.Bad part about it is that it makes this same noise while the car is off and its draining my battery.I don't want take it to the dealership, does anybody have an idea what could be wrong?

I have the same issue with my 06 SS. I found it only happens with mine when I move the passenger side temperature adjuster, and even then it's not every time I do. When it does, it usually clicks about a minute, give or take 30 sec, the stops. I just learned not to mess with it and leave it alone as much as possible.

Anyway, from what I've read, it IS a problem with the actuator. Basically, when you change the air temperature or circulation method, the actuator starts turning but doesn't stop when the door has opened or closed to its furthest position. When the door does get to its furthest opened or closed position, the actuator keeps turning and the door moves up and down, causing the clicking or tapping sound. This is a common issue with the 06-07 Monte. The Impala also has this issue since it's basically the same setup.

Yeah go to the link ChibiBlackSheep posted. Wasn't aware of it until he posted it here. I actually just went to that thread to take a look myself and there's pretty good info that should also help. Thanks for posting that link btw.
