Take that baby for a Test Drive to an Auto Store that will read or loan a Code Reader for you to Read the OBD2 Codes, ...

1) Ck total miles since LAST TIME any Codes got cleared. If this test reveals Codes reset for any reason in under 100 miles. Pass.

2) Take notes of any Codes HISTORY - PENDING - ENGINE - EVAP and TRANSMISSION related.

PO300, PO403, PO405, PO446 are EVAP related and can be resolved with "Plug-'in-play" parts.
PCV Valve on Valve Cover. Cheap and easy.
EVAP Solenoid - Under hood. Easily replaced.
EGR Valve - Under hood. Easily replaced.
CHARCOAL CANISTER - Attached to Front-Left of Fuel Tank. Must lower Fuel Tank.
☆☆☆☆☆ FUEL TANK PRESSURE SENSOR ☆☆☆☆☆
Fuel Tank Pressure SENSOR - Mounted atop of the FUEL PUMP - Must lower Tank! (Muth-err-***-err)!
FUEL TANK >>VENT

Maybe other have other estimates on when those original gaskets fail, but my plan was to have a top swap done to add supper charger, but donor motor was too old.
The shop I use said it was showing signs of intake leak, reminded them of the plan, but when they had it torn down we learned the swap plan would not work out with out some rigging, I said just new gaskets and back together.

It was over 150k when I bought it.

If you do go test it, share some pics and more details

It's an LS so it has the 3.4L, not the 3.8L in the LT. Does the intake gasket issue apply only to the 3.8L?

OK, ... 3400 Engines built after '04 had the Lower Intake Gasket Failure resolved.
The failing L-I-M's were related to the DexCool fiasco.
Become familiar with that issue.

It probably has a magnificent 4T65E Trans.
The magic number at what "Miles" the 4T65E ****s the bed can't be stated.
Tranny's that have been beat-on, ill maintained or used towing something heavy are doomed!

Generally, ... the Main reason any early 2000 Chevy equipped with a 4T65E gets passed-on -- or -- SOLD AT AUCTION without a "Certified Odometer Reading" ... is because the guy who has it know's he ****ed ... and wants that problem solved by dumping his grief on the first guy who comes along looking for wheels.

BEFORE you sign anything, ... make sure to write ... ON THE BILL OF SALE:

1) "Warranties of FITNESS and MERCHANTABILITY are IMPLIED by SELLER.
2) "This Vehicle is KNOWN to be FREE of any Latent Defects."

Question

3400 gasket on my 06 Pontiac Torrent went out at about 70K, test the bad gaskets if they leak sometimes?
But they overheat so on a Warm day at noon drive it thru McDonalds to see if it overheats. (20 cars in line) That is peak slow time. Then watch the heat gauge.
But if this thing was a Rental I would avoid it unless they are giving it away.
To many people drive the rentals don't know how to drive.
I know I drive rentals all the time and watch coworkers who can't drive goof them up.
I could write a novel on how bad they are treated.

Question Sorry if it's a dumb question...

Is the 3.4L the same engine as the 3.8L (3800)? Do the same concerns apply?

Unless the car is mint and all the normal problems have been fixed the $4k price is way too high.
I'very owned 4 gen. 6s. I bought a 2000 SS with 134K miles 6 weeks ago for $800. Granted, it had issues (EVAP canister, heater core, brakes and tires, oxidized paint, general tune up), but the body and interior were good. $600 for parts and tires, some rubbing compound and 20 hours labor the car should now sell for around $2,800. I'd keep looking.
