Default Worth the purchase?

I will be getting a new vehicle soon and I've got my eye on an '06 LTZ.
Before I buy, i'd like to know thoughts on it. What are common problems? Is there a certain style to avoid over others? I had an Intrepid and found out after buying, that style had 2 engine types used and 1 blew chunks. lol
Anything like that i might need/want to know first?
car is priced at 3k
Hope this works out, i'd love to rejoin the Monte family

Ah, I see you here now too. I know a few with 06-07 LTZs and haven't heard anything bad necessarily. I'm not as familiar with the other trim levels as I am with the SS. What's some info (color, mileage, condition, etc) on the one you're looking at?

My '06 LT had it's issues but I was tuned in to it and we got along ok.

If someone gave me the chance to get a clean Monte real cheap I would check

Transmission. Legendary troublemaker. Mine was prone to lunging from stops and winding out before shifts. But it did last 250,000 miles which is better than expected.
Rear window defroster. Not really for the defrosters per se, but the connector in the passenger kick panel. It may char if it gets warm. Can lead to bigger problems than a foggy window.
Wheel hubs. I was trying to chase down an intermittent ABS fail light. And a howl from the front. New hubs fixed the howl but the random ABS fail never got fixed.
Aftermarket sound system. I'd avoid it. It's not needed to reset oil change reminders or program key fobs, but its often takes a crack to get an aftermarket to work. I used an iSimple adaptor to get an Ipod to work with factory system. Still have it if anyone's interested.
Check for bondo in the usual rust areas, rockers and wheel arches.
Pop the cup holder up from the console and make sure no on hid contraband in there that a K9 will point out. It is a good stash space.

My car had another electrical gremlin that would light the airbag warning, seatbelt warning or ABS. She'd chime whenever a door was open even with lights off and key out, Remote start seldom worked. I loved her, but after getting sideswiped I got a good settlement and said goodbye.

This is an old thread, but the last models of MC had an LTZ version. I think 2006-2007. It has the 3.9 engine IIRC

Correct, and there is an SS Monte Carlo with a V-8 in it, just like the Impalas. And I just googled it and this is crazy. There is a 2006 MC with a 3900 that is an LTZ. Has to be a rare car. Wish I had known I would have gotten one.
2006 Chevrolet Monte Carlo LTZ

I spotted this one a few months ago. I never knew they made this version either.

I don't think that is factory. Couldn't find one pic on the Internet of an LTZ with that decal on it. Looks OK though, but I would not have put the M in the door jamb. Would have moved it over.
