Wipers Stuck up issue
Hi All, old member here that now has an issue, First all hello to all the older members that may remember me.
Like the tittle says i recently have the issue of the windshield wipers staying in the up position when they are turned on. and during operation they stop at the bottom of the windshield.
Looking for any help with this issue. I tried searching the web and cant find a real good answer and even tried on all the Grand Prix sites and could not locate anything good.
Thanks.

Welcome back!
Not knowing what area of the country your from...
I would venture a guess to say the park mechanism is no longer operating properly... Theres a gear inside the housing that has a stop built on it..either it broke off or..That part of the lock/park mechanism is froze up/in a bind...
The only real way to fix that issue(as far as I know) would be to replace the wiper mechanism... But I would say you could still use the same motor..
This is for your 2000 Monte Carlo
New Wiper Motor 2000 2001 2002 2003 2004 2005 Chevrolet Monte Carlo WIP1267 | eBay
You may even get lucky and find an auto parts that will have a complete unit for less than just replacing the mechanism assy.
I'm sure someone else will chime in with other ideas...
Pls keep us informed as to what the issue was once you get it repaired..
Thanks!

I had a chevy venture that did the same thing, it was the bar that connects the wipers together that was causing the issue, the bushing (white plastic piece) that cracked. Cost me a couple hundred to have done at a shop. May not be the same thing as your issue but it sounds very familiar

Well finally hit 60 here today in Indy and had a chance to look at this. Ended up being a bent/worn tab that was the issue like the above video showed. Took a few pictures for reference in case any body needs them in the future
Here is how the Transmission(i think thats it name) looks with the cover(Black circular piece) still on
overall shot
Here is a close up with the cover on and the tab that was the issue being pointed to.
and here is a close up with the cover off and how the tab was before the fix. as you can see there is a slight bend to the taband you can see the ware marks were it should engage.
and here is what it should look like when properly engaging
Took all of about 25 mins to get it fixed hardest part was getting the wiper arm off. But just a large flat head at the base of the wiper arm and twist and slowly work it and mine came off eventually
