It's a 'rule' every driver knows: Get your oil changed every 3,000 miles. There's just one problem: It isn't true -- in fact, it's not even close.
How often you really need your oil changed

Member's, how often are you changing your oil & filter ? ? Please Vote above & Post what you are doing & why ?

 

I would rather change the oil too often than too late... I may be throwing money out the window but it's worth the peace of mind that comes with fresh oil in the engine.

One thing to consider as well, my car is almost 12 years old. My car has more junk in it than it did when it was new - it'll dirty the oil faster, plus I think it's better to not let old oil go through an old engine.

Plus these new cars coming out, to get better fuel economy some are going with turbos - you need to keep your oil fresh and clean with a turbo - let it go and you'll have some big repair bills.

I use Mobile 1 full Syn. Every 5,000miles.

I have 2004 Dale Jr with 3.8-1 and 2005 Grand Prix GXP 5.3L V8.

Both are 5,000miles and full Syn.

 

I change mine every 3-5000 miles it just depends on when i can get it done my oil is rather clean wen it comes out, i use mobil full syn 15,000 mile oil lol

 

I'll be honest, I just do it when the message center tells me to.

 

on the truck I do mine every 3k if not every 3200 miles but the filter every other change, the car every 3k for oil and filter. Had a ? though, what kind of supercharger oil do i pick up when I go to change it? I'm sure its never been changed and has 77,600 miles.
