Default found some info....

okay. i think that i figured it out. i believe its a saginaw because of the three shift levers being on the side cover with 7 bolts. its also all cast iron.

i keep searching on the net to see if they are hearty transes, but all i can sem to find are people who love them, or hate them, but none really gives any reasons why ??

anyone here have any good, or bad experiance with saginaws? i am wondering if this would be better thn a 700r4 or not?

Default RE: found some info....

cool.... thanks for all the info. i looked at my trans i have and see that it has a single groove on the input shaft. which measn that it has these gear ratio's
1st 2nd 3rd 4th

1 groove
2.54
1.80
1.44
1.00

what would be a good ring gear to use. right now, i have 3.08's in the origonal ss differential. i am hoping to use the car for street/strip, not a daily driver, but i dont want something thats just going to burn through gas. hense wanting to maybe setup with a MAF TPI system. but, it still sems that a carb setup would be cheaper. so many things i want to do, and never enough money.
