Default Trying to identify decal on valve cover!

This may be an unusual request, but I'll give it a try.

A friend of mine is trying to identify a decal that was used on late 1970's to early 1980's GM cars. The decal is gone from his valve cover; only the glue outline of it remains.

The vehicle he has is a 1979 Chevy Monte Carlo, with a 305 V8. He thinks the decal may have something to do with engine identification; possibly a Canadian assembly plant in St. Catherines, or a Flint, Michigan assembly plant.

He told me that the same decal may have been used on 1979 Chevy Corvettes and some Camaros.

The decal is located on the valve cover (the passenger side), right behind the alternator.

Does anyone have any idea what this decal may have been, back in the late 1970's early 1980's,(possibly 1978 to 1981)?

The decal appears to be 3 inches by 3 inches, possibly "black & white" with a bar code and numbers, but he's not 100% sure.

Thanks in advance!
