is there any way of making a 2004 monte carlo into a standard tranny? (5 speed).

 

someone comes along every so often and asks this question. the answer is yes, but you could buy a heavy duty automatic transmission from Thrasher for less than half the price. i heard of a company in Ohio once that was doing it as an experiment iwth a6 speed for $4000, and after they had it perfected it was going to cost even more.

the overall conclusion of this is... if you want a 5 speed, sell your Monte Calro and buy a car with a 5 speed, you'll have far less problems, much less confusion, and it will be easier to find parts to repair anything that goes wrong.
