Default Thinking about buying a MC

Hey guys, new member here and first time poster. Well im gonna buy a new car here next Jan/Feb and am really thinking about gettin a MC. I dont want to spend more than $9K so with that in mind can I get a nice 2000+, around 75K miles, and hopefully an SS in that range? Id like an SS but i can settle for an LS. Also when Im out lookin around is there any known major issues that I should be looking for? Thanks in advance -Derek

no major issues to look out for that i can think of. i've never heard of our sunroofs leaking (amazingly), but you still might want to check for water stains in the car if its a sun roof. thats all i can think of. you're looking in hte right year and price range, but i wouldn't think you'd get any more than an 02-03. if you're lucky

Build Quality is a little disapponting, especially on the 2006 models.

My car is a 2006 and never had a problem with it. I think the quality of it, is good. No noise, runs good, no problems here.

Hi Derek, & Welcome to the MCF.
There are many automobiles to choose from in the market.
But `if you like the wind tunnel design of the Monte Carlo,
and take the time to drive one, I'm sure that you will fall in love
with the Monte Carlo.
The 3.8L Engine is bulletproof with proper maintenace.
I would suggest getting a CarFax Report (It gives you the history
of the Monte that you are interested it : )
I prefer finding a car (Monte Carlo) from a private owner that
I can evaluate his care, & service, plus you can usually get a
better deal, & avoid all dealer cost and BS.
I search the local papers, AutoTrader, CarsCom, and Craig list
to find a decent Monte Carlo.
I think they are a Awesome Vehicle with a Big Bang for your $.
Good Luck on your search...Please let us know `if you
find one : )
Explore the MCF,and use our Search Engine for your
questions.

I'm not supporting this but a lot of people buy cars off ebay. Just last week I was looking at an '06 Monte for auction in Michigan that went for $5,000 I think? It had like 30k miles on it.

Good luck with your Monte Carlo search.

private person is how i foudn mine. autotrader isn't good for that. if you live near a major city, check hte classifieds on their newspaper, you could probably even find it online on something, mine, believe it or not, was found on cars.com, from a private seller. $9500 for an 03 with 82,000 miles in March 07

Well I was talkin to my grandpa today, whos a used car dealer, and he said they have one on his lot and to come down and test drive it. So i did and man there nice cars, comfy to ride it, plenty of power. It was an 05 LS with 34K miles on it for $11,500. I was really thinkin about buying it but its just a tad out of my price range and I want to try and get my credit score up in the next couple months so I can get a good loan.

Noise and squeaks are part of the allure of American muscle cars. Hell, if you want tomb-like silence, buy a damned Lexus or Infinity. As for me, give me them old-time rattles and squeaks along with the burble of an American V-8, while I'm givingthe aforementioned ricers an education as to what my taillights look like.
