Default Swapping motors in monte carlo from 3.4 to 3.8

So basically the title says it all. I had my monte for 4 years now. My 3.4 motor recently started knocking. So I'm in need of a motor. I don't mind getting the 3.4 motor again but at heart I would like the 3.8 motor. If I do swap for the 3.8, what will I need to complete the swap??

This is a common question on this forum and has been answered many times. If you search around, I am sure you can find some detailed threads on the topic.

I believe we have a write-up thread in this section on it:
FWD Tech Guides '95-'07 - Monte Carlo Forum - Monte Carlo Enthusiast Forums

Here's one about swapping a L36 to an L67 in a 5th gen (concepts are very similiar to go 3400 to 3800):
https://montecarloforum.com/forum/fw...67-swap-14610/

You may also find information about people doing the swap here:

Hope this helps.

You need the wire harness and the PCM. Then you'll need the PCM programed. The transmission is identical in the LS and SS
