I would inspect first, it might just be a piece of plastic the dealership couldn't get off thats rubbing now due to normal wear and tear on other parts of the steering system. I love the smell of WD-40, but i wouldnt want it in my carpets or all over my dash.

wd40 may also eat away at some sorts of plastics in there, so it might not be the best idea, do mean do dis anyone, but any sort of lube that wont eat away at anything is probably going to help

I'm interested too.

Mine squeaks too sometimes. Mine sounds like it's right where the steering column and steering wheel meet. Sounds like vinyl/plastic against vinyl/plastic. It does not do it all the time, just occassionally but when it does it's annoying, I cannot feel anything different so I don't think it's anything serious. It may do it one all day and not do it again for months.

Sounds like you need to grease your ISS, especially if it's something you can "feel".

Just get some white lithium grease (spray) and take the bottom cover off near the pedals, pull back the boot, expose the greenish looking thing and start spraying.

He mentioned rubber squeak and can "feel" it... could just be the boot or something is pushed around?

Not hard to check for it at least.

Thanks to everyone for their suggestions! I really appreciate it. I've been driving around with my stereo off and the sound seems to have gone away. I really don't know what the issue was but I'm glad it's gone, for good I hope.
