is this a complete set up for onstar?
just wondering, my car dont have it and i actually would not mind having it in there for the tracking ability. i hav ehad one come up missing already if they can track it i might have a chance to ge tit back LOL

but was wondering is this all that there is or do you need more ?

Also do you have to have the puter reprogramed to have it as a option?
what all is intailed to putting it in a car if anyone knows.

 

be careful i understand that this year onstar will be digital and that unit is analog won't be used any more, can't findthe letter from onstar about this, mind is the same 01 unit think i have to get an upgrade to keep my service

The Onstar version in my 07 is quite a bit different that the one in my 04, but I don't think that means the older versions won't work anymore. I've found that the Onstar advisors are really helpful, and I'm sure they would gladly tell you what you need, especially if it means gaining another client.

I'm sure there will be an 800 telephone number on their website.

 

yeah im sure they will sell me the set up or send me to teh dealer to get it installed.

I was just suprised if this is all there is to the system in the car.
I relise the service has to be paid for etc... but there has to be more then the rearview and a ant. and this box. isnt there?

im sure there are enough out in bone yards that have the onstart i could figure it out after awhile of looking around but figured i would ask. first.

 

What we need is a GM Tech to get in on this. Hey where are all you Mr. Goodwrenches out there. A little help please.

 

I have the GM install guide for retrofit of ONSTAR at home in my tool box. Never installed one myself but have seen it done and had the GM training. It has been a few years ago but I can get the book let you know.
