Special Edition/Nascar Montes
#31
I agree 100% I understand people want to make their car look nice, and want to take some ideas from special editions and apply them to their car. But I don't like it when they make an all out clone and try to pass it off as the real deal. That's why car companies had to start issuing certificates of authenticity.
Mike, I think many owners have considered painting on the graphics that were originally done with stickers. But especially now, with the 6th gen Signature Series Montes. And considering most of the exterior decals are no longer available, and are expensive to have reproduction stickers made up.
I think if you needed to get one of the decals made from scratch by a sign company, it might cost just as much as having an artist airbrush it permanently onto the car.
I know for a fact that the Gordon edition's ghost flames, and the Junior edition stripes are un-godly expensive. Re-creating them on vinyl would be super expensive. And in the end, you have vinyl decals that will still decay and get weather damamged over time. If you plan on keeping the car for a long time, painting them on is the way to go IMHO.

Yeah those things are ungodly expensive, & gm still makes the signature decals but there close to $200 a piece & $100 just for the front 24 decal but there not vynal so its impossable to get em made same with the gordon ghost flames gm owns that specific vynal & no one but them can use it, i guess these companys are goin to extreme prices to keep there limited edition cars limited, & yeah i see alot of vettes sporting the 50th emblems mine was a true 50th model but for some reason it was blue instead of the maroon but the vin rpo had the 50th pkg & it had the interior for it so idk

Nothing personal against any LS owners. But they made that Jeff Gordon edition look like a base model LS. I like the original Superior Blue Metallic color. Great looking color. Especially with the silver ground effects that came on the car. That powdery blue they covered the car with just makes me want to cry.
