i'm taking every other weekend off from work starting with this coming weekend, and i'm thinking about making another project to addd to the list, converting a 4 speed automatic to a 5 speed manual, i know it requires a lot of welding and cutting but i've done it to a friends el camino before, but his a a 4 speed manual to begin with, one question that i have is, its been tough looking for is a dual exhaust cross-member for the 5 speed, i'm not sure exactly what tranny itis, but its going to be one coming out of a 3rd gen camaro, if anyone could send me a link of where to find the cross-member that would be awesome, thanks in advance.

 

You couldn't split a stock cross member apart and weld in a piece to allow the other exhaust pipe to travel through this added piece? Like a section of large diameter tubing say about 6 inches in diameter? Cut a piece then cut this section in half. You now have a 3 inch diameter curved piece to weld in the cross member where needed. And your 2.5 inch diameter exhaust has 1/2 inch clearence on both sides

 

I like RJ's idea. Not only will it solve your clearance problem, but it will look cool and keep your exhaust protected a little.

 

ok, thanks guys, i think i might end up doing that, if everything goes wrong, do they even sell those crossmembers.
