Should I buy with 135k?
Hello all,
I have an opportunity to buy a 2004 "Inimidator" Monte for about 5-6k. Only concern is that it just topped 135,000 miles. How long do Monte's usually last? Do you think it'll still be good, or garbage? How long have your Monte's lasted?

The 2004 Intimidator came with the supercharged 3800 series II V6. That engine is known for being a very reliable engine. That one still has a lot of life left in it. Providing it wasn't heavily modded and runned hard (raced at every opportunity). It also has the heavy duty transmission, but it's still the weak link in the chain. I would get the car checked out before buying. Often times the oil in the supercharger gets neglected. Have that checked also.
If you're looking at it as a potential investment as a collector's item, save your money. The 6th generation nascar driver editions won't be a valuable collector's item for a very long time, if ever. Since there were so many of them made. 4,000 in the case of the 2004 Intimidator.

I'd say if thats the case thats a great deal, I'd see if he will go to $4,500 and that'd be a great price IMO but for $5,000 it sounds good

I know people claim with proper maintenance, the 3800 n/a and 3800 s/c can get close to or exceed 300,000 miles. It's all in the care. Check the car, get a feel for how it was maintained. Check fluids and such.
