Default Selling The Monte :(

My dad wants to buy my Monte off me for 500. I don't really want to sell it but it's hard on gas and will be fairly expensive for insurance. I mean he owns half of it but I don't want to part with it. I guess if he buys it and uses it as a daily driver it won't be bad but if he turns around and sells it then I'll be pissed. What should I do?

For only 500 why sell it? Is he letting/ making you buy a new car?

Yeah I can buy a new car. But I can't get a very good one for 500. I can just not sign the bill of sale too. But I dunno what to do.

for 500 bucks, your going to be running a worse off car... maybe see if he can help you, or co-sign a loan to get 2000 or 3000 for a newer car?

I'll see what I can do. I really like Monte Carlo's so I'd basically settle for any one of them, no matter what generation. I really like the idea of RWD and AWD. I kind of have a think for Mitsubishi so I'm trying to tell him that theres no way I'm selling my car unless I can get a Monte Carlo or a Mitsubishi.

I think I've found a guy that will trade his 03' Lancer straight across for the Monte. I might take him up on it.

Its a 1985 with a 305. My dad seems to think it will get 12-15mpg but I just won't be able to afford the gas and the insurance and what my dad is offering me just isn't enough.
