Default Rim Size Opinions needed

I am looking now for used rims (I have ready the sicky on wheels area regarding wheel fitment), but need to know that since my car came with 17" wheels from the factory, will the Monte Carlo (or other GM) 16" rim (same bolt patter, offset, hub size) fit for my car? The only concern is that I am unsure if my brakes would be different and larger.

Will they fit?

GM got to a point that many of their wheels were interchangeable not just within the same model. Such as, I can put 16" Grand Prix torque spoke wheels on my '04 Grand Am as long as I use Grand Am tire sizes (the Grand Prixs had much large side walls by comparison, but the rim has the same bolt pattern and off set). In theory, I should be able to put my Grand Am wheels on my '04 Monte.

So if you are looking at factory wheels offered for your generation Monte and you have factory calipers, you are a-ok, no issues. The only time I believe you run into issues is if you go to Vette or dual piston F-Body calipers (and I think that issue is limited to one style of Grand Prix wheel).

I hope that helps. If you have additional questions/concerns, can you post what year Monte you have?
