Mike, call local upholstery shops. Ask if they car interiors and explain what you want done.

I can tell you 99% of them will tell you they need to see the seats to give a price. Which means a trip to the shop.

One option you may consider. It still may be possible to get original covers for the car? Generally GM keeps a 10 year supply of parts. With your car being a 2004 it's still under the 10 yr mark.

Try gmpartsdirect.com. Look up your car and see if seat covers are still available?

I Would look around salvage yards or craigslist for a wrecked monte with leather and just buy the interior parts you need. Probably be a lot cheaper and easier than recovering your seats. If you have your heart set on a two tone (black/tan)you will have to recover them.

Do you have the heating pads in your seats? The factory leather seats put into the SS models came with heated seats. All you should have to do is plug the harness in, and install switches for them. Providing the price is right at the junkyard.

You really would have to get some estimates at local upholstery shops. Ask around your area to see what people's opinion is of specific shops. Check with the Better Business Bureau as well, before you commit to a place. They'll be able to tell you if they had any complaints.

And one more thing. First impression! Pay attention to how they treat you when you go for your estimate. Also visually scan around the place and see how clean it is. If they treat you like you're bothing them, or they act like they're doing you a huge favor by letting you in the door, move on to the next shop. They will most likely take their sweet-assed time doing your job. Remember, once they got the upholstery off your seats, you're at the mercy of when they feel like working on your stuff. So ask around, anyone who got work done by that shop, what they're like.

And if the place looks like it hasn't been cleaned in 3 years, that's a sign of how they'll treat your stuff too.

Junkyard search is a good idea, and the cheapest. Katzkin is a company that will sell leather seat covers (identical to factory) there are others - Trimcar.com, Leatherseats .com, Autointerior.com. None are cheap. You're propably looking at $800 - $1,000 front and rear - and that's if you do it yourself. I know this, because I've priced repairing (recovering) a worn front leather seat in my 99 monte, and the best price I got for one seat was $425 (installed) or $700 for two front seats (mail order/self install).

I've often wondered how much (ballpark estimate) it would cost to have my 6th gen Monte seats re-upholstered two-tone in leather.

I've done the seatcover thing before. Even got custom fit seatcovers from CoverKing on a previous car. But those were all removable seatcovers. Like Mike, I'm curious about anyone who has had their seats professionally re-upholstered. How much they paid.

I know what I said in my previous post about just having to go to local upholstery places and finding out. But I'm not in a position to spend money on that right now, so I don't want to get estimates on something I'm not going to be doing in the first place. If or when I'm in a position to get it done, I'll go get estimates of my own. But that's a long time away. If ever. I'm thinking black and red kind of like the 2000 Pace Car Montes. But by the time I'm ready to do this, buying 2000 Pace Car seats in good condition WON'T BE AN OPTION. I'll have to get mine re-done professionally.

I'm curious like Mike is. To anyone who has had their seats professionally re-upholstered. How much did it cost you? $1000? $5000? Not just seat covers over top of the factory material. Full removal of the original material, and new leather custom sewn onto your seats.

I'm still convinced this is a bot account.

Every post in their history is bumping a super old thread, and almost every time their question / response is about a different, totally unrelated, vehicle (Jeep, SLK, Toyota, a SHO here, once even a "Duffy 35" that no one even knew what it was).

Never replies back when people respond.
