Get a good air hammer. Use a chisel bit against the 3 corners. It normally pops the hub out quick and easy. With rare exception, I have done lots of GM FWD wheel hubs in an hour flat because of that tool (that includes getting tools out and putting them away). Multiple W-bodies and other cars.

Tried the air hammer. No dice. Today before work I even tried heating the hub and putting more oil in it. After work Bang Bang bang..... Still stuck.

On my lunch break tomorrow we'll see how it hold up against the press at the machine shop.

Wow, the air hammer always worked for me. Sounds like that hub is really stuck in there. Sorry to here it.

Success! It put up a bit of a fight but in the end it was no match for the machine shops 55 ton press.

When it let loose it sounded like a .22 rifle went off in the shop. Upon inspection I don't see any damage to the axel.

Was able to reinstall everything on the passenger side except the brakes and tires. Will finish that in the morning and start with the drivers side. I'm only going to spend a max 15 min trying to get the other side out if it's stuck before I just take it to the shop. Should be ready to be the new daily driver by the end of the day tomorrow since I have the day off from work. Can't wait to start driving it.

Driving a 5 speed manual is fun but not in heavy traffic going to and from work. Ugh!

I am so glad to read this thread and learn that there are people who will purchase a car that needs a little work for a good price!

Good for you - it sounds like you got a very good price. I am about to list an '04 Monte with low mileage located in Western Pennsylvania that needs exhaust work. I figure some person will appreciated the condition of the car and the mileage and why should I pay out money to someone like Monroe Muffler or Midas when I can reduce the price a bit and allow the new owner to save money be doing the work himself?

Does this make sense to anybody?

All work complete!

Reassembled the passenger side with new outter tie rod end and brake pads and rotor. Went together easily.

To my delight the drivers side was a breeze. I was able to push the axel out with my thumb. Did that entire side in an hour. New hub, brake pads and rotors. After lunch I drained the transmission fluid removed and cleaned the pan and installed a new filter. By the looks of the color of the fluid I bet it's been in there since 2004. Replaced with 7.5 qts of Dexron VI.

Only deal with the car now is it still has a bit of a shake in the steering wheel at about 50mph. I'm guessing it's the wear pattern on the tires. I'll put some miles on it and see if it smoonths out. It sure is heck is shaking a lot less than it was that's for sure.
