Repair Job Gone BAD!
Today started off to be great! I picked up my new barstool racer today.
I put my New Sierra Custom in Storage Back in November.
Its stored in my garage... Doesnt get any safer than that right? WRONG!
Turns out... Today when I went to put my new toy in the garage, Naturally haveing 1 1/4 car garage I had to pull it out of the garage. (The Sierra). To
Put it in a "cubby" hole (barstoolkart) I have built in the garage for something just that size... Once I pulled the truck out...and cleaned that area out.. It fit perfectly(barstool cart) in my "cubby" hole... It fit as if it was made to go there!... I was thrilled that I had enough room to put it up til spring in the garage. Upon Pulling the Sierra Back in the Garage in its spot... I had the mrs spotting me backing it in its spot in the garage Which is almost all the way against the back wall and the far right side wall of the garage...
Once we got it back in it s spot.... She starts hollering at me about the back bumper and the damage that was there...I said what are you talking about ???? So as I get out of the Sierra and head to the back of the truck
She says this damage.... To my amazement.... There a huge crack in the bumper(which is part of the fiberglass ground effects)....
Its the same crack the dealer supposedly had fixed properly when I bought it! Apparently whether its from the cold, humidity, Tempature fluxuations...I have no friggn Idea... How it happened !!!! Yet an hour earlier I was in the garage looking over the area "cubby"hole which I had to walk behind the Sierra in the ifrst place to get to it...and the bumper was just fine! I subconsciously have been looking at that area since we got it back from the dealer 5 months ago... So, between the time I returned home from picking up my new toy til the time I reparked it in the garage it was cracked again wide friggn open...AGAIN!
I CALLED THE DEALER IMMEDIATELY! I said I got a problem and what kind of warranty am I suppose to have on that bumper repair?
He said for me to take it back to the repair shop (off site collision shop)
they stand behind there work...and he will take care of it.... Well thats all well and good...But the last time they had my truck..They had it for a Month and a half for that repair....also the owner was a real D*** head!
I dont want to take it there.... So, Im going to go to the manager and tell him I want to take it to a shop I trust... Let the dealership pay for the "proper" repair!
I am totally pisseed off about this.... Its bad enough I have to put upper and lower intake gaskets on the Monte....
NOW THIS!
.... Which means now were going to end up putting more miles on my Silverado...That I generally only use for our vacations to try to keep the Mileage off of it ..Let alone city mileage!
Thanks for letn me rant....

Sorry about the bad luck, hopefully things with the cars start going better for you. I know this is going to sound stupid, but here is my poor attempt at humor. I guess the truck was jealous of the attention the monte is getting and wants attention to. Hoping you get everything straightened out.
That sucks David, sorry to hear that. Actually, before you moved the truck, it might have looked fine but things probably contracted from the cooler temperatures thus weakening the repair. Starting and moving the truck just might have been enough disturbance to the repair to make it split at the time you moved the truck. Hope there's no hassle with getting it re repaired.
Matt:
That does make sense... However, It also proves what a "shotty" job they did on the repair originally! Im going to rrequest he orders a new Bumper thus eliminateing the need to repair it again! Eliminateing the possibility of it re cracking!
Thanks everyone for your support...I thought I was done with these people!

Very true. A good repair should definitely withstand temperature fluctuations.

Hope they fix it for you
