David, it looks pretty self explaining that you didn't bump into something. There should be a scuff at least. Don't lose your temper unless it is a last resort. I cant remember what the truck looked like now, but I like the stripes.
Nitehawk-some may not be equipped or have the skill to do the job. I can do some bodywork but never painted.(EX)

I was being sarcastic about a freaking BODY shop that can't fix a fiberglass crack properly, whereas an amateur such as myself can... And I was saying sorry to STUMPMI because he has to go through a repair job when he shouldn't have to be, due to aforementioned body shop's shoddy work.

Shoddy work indeed! Keep us posted David. They probably didn't grind down in there far enough. I once had a 78 Camaro with a crack in the very front center of rubber bumper. I grinded it out and sewed it together with fishing line before filling it. Worked like a charm.

Thanks for your support,
But since the dealership already paid for it, Its a warranty thing...
I do get seperation Anxiety...
The last time that shop had it.. They put 187 miles on it and burned off 1/64 of tread off the tires not to mention a half a tank of Gas!
Then claimed they didnt drive it! (I took picks of the Speedo with the current mileage when I dropped it off.)

Not only can you see it:
Feelin its not even an issue!

But its obvious that its more than a "Minor" crack...
This truck is in show condition.!! Spotless inside and out...
Ask a few of the members that saw it at last falls meet and greet!
Click on the Pic for a Better view of it...(The Crack in the Bumper)

Unfortunately there was just a minor crack when I bought it.. and the dealer agreed to fix it. Thats the only reason I had them do it.... But heres the end result... 4 months later which tells me they did a half *** job! Beside Kurt (The dealership manager) was apologenic.. Doesnt make up for there out sourced Collision shop personal and repair... I do have a shop hat I completely trust and know they do quality work... There just not affiliated with that dealership...
Consequently, I have to go thru the BS again...

Wow Dave it's quite obvious the collision shop don't even give a damn if they took 6 weeks to even do the initial repair. If I was the dealership there is no way I would send them any work if I had to constantly answer to customers as to what is taking so long. Sounds like someone is related to someone between the shops.
I agree the repair was not properly prepped or else why would the crack re-appear in the same spot. I would bet money on it they only did a topical repair and never reinforced the reverse side with an anti-fracture membrane. The crack should have been enlarged and the edges treated to accept a new filler and then all filled and finished from there. Would be cool to have another shop look at it and see why the failure occured before the other shop can do anything to obscure why the crack re-occured. I would not even trust this shop to touch my vehicle again not even for a warrantied repair. Sounds like there is bad blood going and they could do subtle things to screw you over by messing with your truck. 6 weeks in deed, bet a repair to install a brand new bumper would take 8 weeks with these clowns and a 1/2 tank of gas.......

Greg:
You were absolutely right.. I had planned on doing just that...Takeing it to another shop...(That I trust).Thats what I did. According to them, apparently they never removed the bumper cover from the frame... They did just what you said they did a half azz topical repair....and slapped a little DURABOND at the edge of the crack.
And Painted over it!

Which also bonded (durabond)to the steel framework thus not allowing it move (twist or flex)with the vehicle. The end result was it recracked it..Which is now worse than the original crack! Initially the correct repair would have cost a mere $250.00 ....Apparently he charged the dealer a whole lot more.... Because Kurt (the manager) was shocked at what it should have cost vs what they paid the guy to do it!

I called Southern Comfort Conversions, A new bumper cover will cost $635.00 Shipped! Which Im sure is a whole lot less than what there out source Collisin shop charged them!

As much as I really dont want that clown to touch it again... I now have the owner as well as the general manager Involved in the process. Im confident, It will be done CORRECTLY this time.... If not and I get it back and it looks like azz etc... I will be hireing my attorney to sue them for the time and damages that I have endured....
So, I have a 9 am appointment on Monday with the service dept.. and there going to go over it with a fine tooth comb.... Thats the only way I agreed to let them touch it again.... That should almost guarantee me a Timely and quality repair... We'll see what happens!

Good Luck. Sounds like you are moving in the right direction. I would tell them I am not taking it till they are ready to actually work on it. No six week crap. That is a 3 day job max.
