Default Remote starter ? Self install ? Need a GOOD brand...

Hello, has anyone installed a remote start unit on THIER Monte (6th gen) ? If so, how hard was it ? (What skill level are you?1-10) what do you think the level of how hard it is to install ? Any special tools needed ? How long did it take ? Anyone in the Milwaukee wi area interested in installing one ?

See I have had 3 of these units installed in the past on some of my cars, that being said, I paid a ton to have them done. I wanted the best they had, so I didn't mind paying for it.... How ever, I have had problems since day 1 with the newest one on my other Monte SS.... I have taken it back prolly 6-10 times because it doesn't work correctly. So, I figured this time ill try n do it myself.

Or is there a company that anyone has dealt with that they recommend that doesn't have any issues with the starter ? Where did you have it installed ?
Thanks for any responce in advance... Much appreciated... mjclemm..

I installed a ready remote brand on a neighbor's 2004 Oldsmobile Alero
it was a pain with the bypass module to allow remote start to work ..
I worked on it two sundays ..I told my neighbor next time take it somewhere else . Not my house..

Unless you can contort yourself like a pretzel I'd pass on the job and leave it to a pro. That way if there is anything wrong you have someone to fix it until its right. I think some modern cars just aren't meant to have them. My buddies yukon was nothing but trouble so he had it taken off. It was a name brand top of the line unit too.

If you are looking for long range the viper remote starts are fantastic and as far as I know have the longest range out there. As far as installation wise take it somewhere else and have it done for sure. Just call around different places and get the prices. and go where the price is right lol.

Another thought, atleast with a viper system. If you install it yourself you get no warranty through the company because they don't consider you a qualified installer. Just something else to think about.

This reason alone is good enough to take it to a pro. Lets say your brand new self installed viper you installed last week takes a crap on you for no reason other than manufacture defect.. you're going to have to buy a brand new one since you can't get warranty on self-installed units.

Ask me how I know

I was a Geek Squad Autotech. Lifetime warranty on the install, pretty straightforward car. I have the Code Arlarm CA6552 installed and love it!
