Default Radiator Drain Plug Question

I have a '85 Coupe that has the original radiator, which works fine.
The drain plug is a cheepo plastic one which doesn't work well.
Replacements at places like Autozone, etc. are either similar plastic crap ones or threaded metal ones.
There are no threads for a plug to screw in.
Am I stuck with the plastic, or was there a different kind originally used that I can try to search for?
Any suggestions on what else I can do?

Thanks for any help.

I did a quick search for your vehicle and there were a whole lot of options that popped up. You should be able to find it with the information that you have about your vehicle. Good luck.

The official name of that part is a "petcock"... Keep the dirty jokes to a minimum.

Thanks.
My problem is a leaking Petcock.
My radiator takes the push in type, and I can't figure it out.
When it gets hot, it fails.
I assume because I tighten it too much in an effort to get it not too leak...
