What sounds best both in a out of the car, Facing the subs towards the front of the car or towards the rear.? Anyone have a solid answer let me know!

 

There are a lot of variables that can give you different results. Personally i used to meter higher subs and port facing back. If you face them forward and seal it off from the trunk then that would be louder.. I have seen either way louder without sealing it off. Its just trial and error. When you put your subs In try it both ways. It only takes a few minutes to move it around

 

test it out for yourself and go from there, there's quite a bit of information on the forum about it, but no set in stone way. Flip the box around when you get it and see which works best for you. my bet is facing it towards the trunk though.

 

I've found that facing the rear always get more sound. I've heard that when you face the subs towards the front, the sound waves cancel each other out some and actually decrease the loudness.

 

I have 2 12s in mine facing the rear of the car they were installed by the people from MTX.
..I have 4000 watts of power...instahled by MTX.
they were at Mickey shores where I bought the system. And they insisted on doing the complete install..since I bought there top of the line stuff. So facing the rear would be the way to go!

 

In a truck car, rear port rear sub is generally the loudest.

 

i've tried forward and rear facing, rear facing was far louder for me, but you can experiment with it, there are some sweet spots in there, these cars are loud with subs, and now i officially miss my 15" L7's but them things were friggen heavy, i like my car alot more when it's light.

 

I've never considered what it sounds like outside of my car so that's never been a concern of mine. What type of box are we talking about here? There is no one right answer, it's not that black and white. The type of box you have, where it's located in the trunk, where the port is located, etc., all of these things factor in to which alignment will sound the best. The absolute best setup I've heard in a 6th gen is a 4th order bandpass ported up through the rear deck. Next to that was a ported box, sub/port back, with the box positioned about 6" from the tail lights. If you're planning on metering it, sub/port forward and sealed off generally yields the best results, but you're got to make sure the trunk is completely sealed off so no air pressure gets in there.
