I thought the blue-tint looked good with his car. I did the burn tool, then select the area feathered and desaturate it a little to take out some of the blue.

Usually though, I just select the areas and underexpose them.

It does stink not having the raw to work from too

Very true. I did a little attempt myself, put it in my last post, just to make sure I could really do what I was saying It would really need work in the trees and whatnot in the back as I left it real dark after burning it. But it came out alright. Actually when I tried to burn the headlights it really only highlighted the few "spots" that were in the original picture, on the headlight lens.

I'm just surprised some of the basic post-processing wasn't done for John already.

Unless his professional just let the camera make JPEGs and he sent those over.

He could be one of the photographers that just knows so little about editing, that they just don't. My cousin for example is trying to start a photography business. She knows about editing but has no clue how to actually do it, and instead she worries solely about the camera and lenses, etc. and relies on that for a good picture.

Obviously a lot of it is in the equipment and the skill of the person behind it, but editing still is a good bit of a picture, too.

I like how the 97-03 Grand Prix mirrors look on your car!

I would assume that's the case... lots of 'professional' photographers just have nice cameras and don't really know what to do with them.

Nice pictures nonetheless
