Default Problem with ZZP downpipe?

I got my downpipe from ZZPerformance today (a 2.5" bolt-in with a cat) and it looks like there's a problem. The outside of the cat appears to be two pieces spot welded together, and on one side it looks like there is a broken spot weld because the two pieces are not together like they should be. There is maybe a centimeter of gap between the two pieces at one end, but it is welded at the other. Will this affect anything? Should I send it in and ask for a new one, take it somewhere to get it spot welded quick, or just leave it?

Seeing as how when you bought it, you expected a 100% intact piece, I would contact ZZP and tell them its broken and tell them you are going to send it back and that you want a new one. Its not your responsibility to make sure the thing is together, its theirs, so they should send you a new one.

I'm just throwing this out here.

If they care anything about the customer or repeat customer they should send you a new pipe for free at their cost and tell you to keep this one. For your troubles.

Flow Master did when I had a problem with their tail pipes when I bought a kit from Jeg's for one of my '57 Chevies in 2005. They even next day air the new kit to me. At their expense.

I agree, sounds like a sloppy weld job.

Take a cell phone picture, email it to yourself and forward it to ZZP with your complaint.

Well if it can still work just fine like this, I would rather just spot weld it and put it in as opposed to waiting a week and a half for the pipe to get to them and back to me.

have you told them that you havent already started to put it in?

let them know tha tyou have started to put it in place when you found it, and you have already taken the old one out.

see if they can mail you one wiht a small core charge and once there you can put it in.
