Default Power Steering pump?

Hey all, monte here.....is it at all any trouble to replace the power steering pump? I have one with the resevoir but never got around to replacing it. Now it's squealing like no other and leaking like crazy. I'm going to replace it tomorrow (sunday) amongst other things to work on. It seems like you just remove the belt off it, unbolt it, remove the pulley if needed, disconnect the lines and replace it. But, everyone knows that it's always harder than it looks 99% of the time lol.

I have the 6th gen monte carlo (2002 to be exact) with the 3.4L engine.

the PS pump/resevoir is right in front of the coolant resevoir tank easy to see and touch.

I changed my PS pump probably around 6 months ago. It ended up being a lot harder of a job that i had anticipated.

I have the same 3.4l engine, I figured with the pump and reservoir being right on top of everything it would be simple. It ended up taking me a few hours, mostly struggling to get the pulley off (I re-used my reservoir and pulley) and then getting the old pump out. For some reason even after you unbolt it, it still gets caught in between the top of the engine and all of the lines and wires along the side.

My memory is hazy, but the best words of advice I can give you is to be patient with it. And good luck!

I replaced mine a week and a half ago, it was a piece of cake, so easy lol I had anothe pump with the pulley, so swapping it was a breeze. I had a pulley puller right next to me though ready to swap them out, but I didn't need it.
