Info: Possible pcm problem
- Hello so I purchased a dale jr Monte Carlo about a year ago I spent 5 months completly fixing it and did a bunch of performance to it, my girlfriend totaled it and I Ended up getting another one it read a misfire so I immediately changed to my coil packs and bought new spark plugs and wires and it somewhat helped get its power back but still read the light so when I got home I put the tuned pcm from the totaled one in my new one which did take the light away for about 200 miles then it went back to loss of power my scanner says it could be the icm “ignition control module” or pcm I am wondering if my pcm may be damaged from the crash even though it was not touched or could it be I have to re wire the pcm or icm harness?
Was the problem and magnitude the same on both pcms? Its certainly possible the pcm got damaged from a hit that hard, but if it ultimately ended up doing the exact same thing then its pretty unlikely both failed in the exact same way.
Have you actually replaced the ICM? The older these get, the more those seem to go bad. It sounds like that may be the last piece of the ignition system you haven't touched, so Id start there.
