Painting Brake Calipers

RE: Painting Brake Calipers
I know of 2 kits out there. One kit you can buy at any Auto Zone or other car parts store the brand is Dupli Color and I think it's around $20. It comes with a spray cleaner, a can of paint and a brush. There is a better kit out there that Eastwood.com sells for around $35-$40. http://www.eastwoodco.com/jump.jsp?i...emType=PRODUCT
I have used both kits and the one from Eastwood is more durable. Basically you get what you pay for. BTW both kits come in a bunch of colors to choose from.

so is it like an unspoken trade that you should paint the calipers when you put rims on the mc? i am thinking about investing into some rims and i want to make sure that i do all the neccessary steps prior to ordering them.

If you get rims that are more open than stock, painted calipers look great. It kinda draws your attention to the wheels. I have the stock 5 spoke wheels on my car an I still painted my calipers. I just adds a real nice touch.

Any decent paint will hold up as long as you clean the calipes good.
Doesn't even need to be high temp paint to bond good.
I painted the calipers on my '86 LS in 2003 for the Monte Nats in Elyria, OH.
I just used a silver paint similar to Rustoelum andthey still look good today.

yah, the paint has to be high heat, any autoparts store should sell high heat caliper paint in a lot of different colors, most comon is red.
make sure you clean them veerrrry very good before you paint them though, or else the paint will flake off, sometimes if the car is a few years old you should almost invest in new calipers to have them painted
