Something sounds goofy. Either the appraiser went overboard or the body shop doing the estimate went too little.
Either way, sorry it's panning out the way it is.

Well they're going to save it now. Doing $3900 worth of repairs with no out of pocket costs to me which is good. But also scary knowing that driving this thing around and I get hit again by anyone and she's gone.

Yeah!! I'm so glad.I still carry full coverage on mine & it helps a lot when others hit you. Keep her in good shape and the value will start to go back up(especially if Chevy doesn't make another Monte).A huge Chevy dealership near us has an Xchange program and they offered me 8200.00 to trade her in. No way Jose!
So glad again to hear, if you need anymore help just P.M again. Also for you and anyway else in the forum , if you need OEM parts I swear by GMpartsdirect.com they are Flow Chevy in NC brand new parts are 30-65% off local dealer prices.

Apparently they screwed up initially and approved a $3200 quote which when I pointed out should've put my car value by their own standards at somewhere around $3900. Well after 3 weeks of $85 a day storage fees and $1200 worth of work already initiated by the shop. They approved the supplemental $3900 that the shop estimated after finding the body panel damage. Because in order to pay me the total loss damage and the shop their work fees it would have came out to more money than just approving the damage repair.

WOW! If I recall, ultimately you wanted the car fixed, so this brings you out to a winner! I wonder if it's worth looking into different insurance for the car... The one problem I see is the fact it's a daily driven vehicle.

Hopefully you don't run into problems down the road after the car is fix. It happened to me when i got rear ended in my 04 monte. Had rear bumber and trunk lid replaced but then started to have problems with instrument panel gauges. If you think your getting screwed talk to a lawyer for your car and your health. Hope everything works out .
