Default Oil filter options

Hey all, been awhile since I've been on, I've got a question for y'all. Has anyone found an oversized oil filter for the 3.4 liter montes? I've got an 03 LS that I plan on taking out dirt/rally racing. I know a larger diameter filter probably won't fit, so if anyone knows of a taller than stock filter let me know!

A option would be a wix 51036 . It taller and holds a little more oil than the 51040 . Also makes re.moval easier as because of the size.

This works on 2.5 liter ( 2.8 , 3.1, 3.4 engines) (3.3 , 3.8 engine's) 4.3 liter also. As for the V8 small block in truck's they used a big filter in the 2wd truck's and a 51036 in the 4wd. You might be able to put the big filter on the car's, but I've never personally tried this before. This works on most GM vehicle's from the mid 80's through the early 2000's.

Perfect! Thanks Jeff, I've always wondered how much I can trust a wix filter are they good? I usually run the STP extra life oil filters.

Cross reference it to whatever brand you like.I have used them for years, I've never had a issue with any oil filter. Change oil every 3-5000 miles is my suggestion.

Sounds good! I usually change whenever the message center tells me to, but I'm gonna start doing exact 3k changes after this one.
