Default NEW Borg Warner turbocharger arrived today....Pics

My Precision Turbo sucked in and expelled a very small particle from the ZZP power log exhaust manifolds which were failing as I was past their operational limits of 300 WHP. They had mulitple cracks and were disentigrating and in due course a particle was spewed out through the exhaust side of the turbo and bent the exducer blades. So with that Matt chose to optimize the turbo for the actual built motor. The Precision turbo was a carry over from the failed miserable piece of crap Las Vegas build. So even though it worked it was not really optimal for the engine. Matt discussed with Borg Warner reps what we had engine / whp wise and what turbocharger did they believe that was in their inventory would be optimal for our Monte. This is what we finally ended up with,Will be about another month to get the Monte back together as they have to devote time elsewhere for the next few weeks. Thanks to "TurboMonte" John for pointing me in the right direction for the best exhaust manifolds out for the turbo cars.They come from Cartuning the same company who John has used with his turbo build. The owner Kevin is custom making a set for my Monte and will be here in about 2 more weeks. The Borg Warner EFR 8374 it is their top dog just released race Inspired turbocharger. Here is more information about the unit.


BorgWarner EFR 8374 Turbo:
EFR 8374 is engineered to support big power levels yet spool fast enough for professional time attack teams. The 74mm Gamma-Ti turbine wheel is the optimal match for the 62.6mm inducer / 83mm exducer FMW compressor wheel and is capable of 79lb/min airflow and 45+psi boost. This is one of the most exciting turbos in the EFR lineup for the high-power addicts. This turbo has the largest EFR compressor housing and is ideal for use in single turbo applications for the 500-800hp range, or as twin turbo applications >1400+hp. Ceramic Ball Bearing only, watercooling optional (recommended)

Sucks about the powerlogs, damn that turbo is huge. Be careful. I've got extra L26 manifolds if you need em. lol

Shiny new turbo

Aside from the exhaust and the turbo, any other upgrades? As Pacer mentioned perhaps an L26 UIM may be a wise idea (get away from the old plastic one).

Hey bud, no additional upgrades on the drawing board. I like the UIM for the L26, anyone want to build one for me?? It would be bad azz to have something like that for sure...

Build? What do you mean build? Just take the UIM and LIM and swap them out, there's nothing to it. I mean you've already got aftermarket fuel rails right? then just a simple TB adapter plate and viola....aluminum intake with endless boost capabilities. (endless is a figurative statement it can blow lol)

I thought they had to be modified quite extensively to work on the L36......

No not at all, the old stock L36 fuel rails won't fit over it right and the TB bolt holes don't line up. But if you buy a Gen V Supercharger adapter plate from like ZZP or similar and use that then it just bolts right up. Same gaskets and everything.
