hi what,s up guy i just got a 06 monte carlo SS. and it did not come wit a key fob but i could see in the car,s info area that it dose take one. so i went out and got a key fob for the car and i programd it my self and it locks and unlocks the trunk work,s and the panic button work,s but when i tryed to use the remote start it dose not so i went in to the info area to make sure the remot start was on and it was but it still dont work mabe iam doing something wrong i dont know please help ty

 

ive never heard of a ls4 car without remote start from the factory. you dont have a check engine light on do you? if so thats why it wont remote start. it also wont with the hazards on, hood open, oil low, or in gear. first be certain you do have one, which you should. then make sure all the above i mentioned isnt the case. then check all relays, and fuses that pertain to it. then wiring.

 

I'll start with the obvious. How are you trying to start it?

You know it's lock button twice, then hold the top button for 4-5 seconds right?

Only other thing I can think of, is having to ask a dealership to program?

 

Mine I have to be right on top of it to start with the remote start. I'd say with in 3 to 4 feet before it will start.

 

there was a tsb for that. mine suffered from the same thing. the dealer swapped it all out, and it works well now. 100ft or so. take it in.
