I agree, take him to small claims court if he won't repair it, but chances are the threat of it will make him pay for your damages

I concur with Budsljm.... Don't flip out at the owner. BE MATURE! Yes, you are really angry, but if you go there and go nuts on the owner, well, you shut ANY door of him being reasonable with you.
I thought I heard somewhere these shops had to carry some type of insurance for towing (don't quote me).
And in all honesty, you should have made someone take a note of the damages BEFORE leaving with your car. You open the situation up for them to claim "we didn't do that"....
Just be stern and with the facts when you speak to the owner. Use of foul language and insulting his staff does not usually work well.
If he is unwilling to help, look into small claims court at that time.

The roads can't be as bad as the roads in Michigan. Anyway, somebody obviously didn't know what they were doing or didn't care. I'd say definitely be calm about it when talking to the owner. Hope you get it taken care of.

I got to thinking about it, and if you're calm about it the owner isn't as likely to be defensive about it and you'll have a lot better luck. he'll probably end up confronting the guy that put it on the lift, as long as he's got some sort of conscience . . . he'll probably own up to it. especially if there were other people in the shop that witnessed it. . . or witnessed you freaking out about it at least. good luck
